A salon that takes every hair texture

Republic Hair Co opened in 2022 in the Lower Greenville area and was built on a specific idea by founder Jennifer Cahill, a hairstylist who also works as an educator: anyone, with any hair texture, should be able to walk in and know there is a stylist there for them. Most Dallas salons quietly specialize in straight to wavy hair, so a room where curly, coily and textured hair is a core competency rather than an add-on stands out. The salon appeared in D Magazine’s 2025 self-care guide.

The menu runs from lived-in color to protective styling, and stylists are grouped by what they actually specialize in rather than by seniority alone.

Technology and brands

The product wall leans clean and texture-friendly: R+Co, Kevin Murphy, Shu Uemura and Innersense Organic Beauty, which is a line built for curls and sensitive scalps. Color is custom-mixed per guest rather than pulled from a standard shade chart, and tools and capes are cleaned between appointments.

Team and stylists

Founder Jennifer Cahill built her clientele in Dallas before opening the salon and has taught for hair brands and other salons, which shows in how the team is trained. Rather than assigning whoever is free, the salon uses a matchmaking survey that pairs a guest with a stylist by hair type, goals and personality.

The Space

The room is deliberately unintimidating: an open, bright styling floor with a community feel rather than a hushed luxury showroom. Stations are arranged so a stylist can walk a guest through what they are doing, and the curl work in particular is done with the guest able to watch and learn the routine.

Can I book online? Yes, and new guests are encouraged to fill in the stylist matchmaking survey first.

How long does a visit take? A curly cut and style runs one to two hours, balayage three or more, and extensions or braids can take a half day or longer.

Do you take men and children? Yes, cuts for men and children are part of the regular menu.

Can I combine services in one visit? Yes, color plus a cut or a treatment is standard; flag it at booking so the time is blocked.

Are gift certificates available? Yes, gift cards can be bought for services and for retail.
