Indigo Child sits in the Bishop Arts District and is unusually organized for a salon of its size: alongside more than twenty stylists it keeps a director of education, a director of team development and a director of operations. Technology and brands

Team and stylists

Owner Sarah King Lynch works as an educator and mentor as well as running the salon, and the education director specializes in lived-in color and extensions. New guests are matched to a stylist by a survey covering hair goals, personality and personal style, rather than simply given whoever has an opening.

The Space

Bishop Arts is a walkable, low-rise district of independent shops and restaurants, and the salon fits that register: bright, unstuffy and social rather than clinical. Guest coordinators handle arrivals, so the front of the room stays calm even when the floor is full, and the retail area is set apart from the working stations.
