Priya Krishna’s early life and development

Priya Krishna’s parents immigrated to the United States from India in the early 1980s. She grew up and spent her teenage years in Dallas, Texas. Priya graduated from Dartmouth College, where she studied public administration and minored in French. While studying, Priya worked as a marketing consultant for Dartmouth Dining Services, where she launched a column called The DDS Detective. It was that very same activity that sparked Priya to write her first cookbook, Ultimate Dining Hall Hacks. Priya believes that her time at Dartmouth Dining Services opened her eyes to the possibilities of building a career in the culinary world.

A journalist’s career, exploring the world of cooking

Priya Krishna has been writing her own books and also exploring the world of journalism since 2014. Throughout her career, she has contributed to several renowned publications and media platforms, including, Lucky Peach as a freelancer, The New Yorker as a columnist, Eater and TASTE as a columnist, The New York Times as a food reporter, and Bon Appétit as a contributing writer and video host, among others.

Priya’s success as a journalist was not long in coming, largely due to her deep passion for the topic of cooking. It wasn’t just a hobby for Priya; it was a way of life. Initially, Priya’s focus was on simply enjoying describing food. She had an engaging and “tasty” way of talking about even the most basic dishes. Over time, Priya expanded her knowledge to include the history behind various dishes and the cultures they originated from. This journey transformed her from a simple storyteller into a celebrated writer in the culinary field.

Priya’s Kitchen Adventures: A Cookbook for Kids and other cookbooks

Priya Krishna decided to write about cooking after she realized that ever since she was a kid, she hadn’t come across a cookbook that matched her food preferences. Back, when she was just a little girl looking for a recipe to recreate her mom’s tasty dishes, nothing ever seemed to hit the spot.

Priya’s Adventures in the Kitchen: A Cookbook for Kids is her fourth book and her first venture into children’s literature. She wrote this book with her mom to bring joy to her inner child, who was getting frustrated with recipes for the same old pizza recipes and the lack of diversity on cookbook covers. This cookbook features 54 recipes inspired by the 12 countries the writer visited as a child. Inside, you will find easy-to-follow instructions for the most amazing dishes like pork and chives dumplings or pita bread with hummus. Priya Krishna has thoughtfully designed the recipes to be kid-friendly, intentionally keeping knife use to a minimum.
