Haggar Clothing

The clothing brand Haggar was created in Dallas. It is a well-known firm with clients in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
The founder of the brand is Joseph Marion Haggar, Sr., an emigrant from Lebanon. He moved to Dallas in 1921. Before creating his business, Joseph worked as a salesman for workwear for several years.

In 1926, Joseph Haggar created his own business, which was initially located in one room. There were two sewing machines and four workers. The business was successful. In two years, the enterprise employed 500 people and sewed 75,000 pants.
During the Second World War, the Haggar factory was engaged in sewing military uniforms and worked 24 hours a day. By the end of the war, the factory had sewn more than 10 million pieces of clothing. By the late 1940s, Haggar was the largest producer and seller of trousers in the world.

In the late 1940s, the Haggar factory began selling men’s trousers with cuffs that did not require the work of a cobbler after purchase by the customer.
Haggar was the first menswear brand to be advertised on national television in the 1950s. Haggar has created wrinkle-resistant pants for men.
The development of the company did not stop. In 1968, trousers made of double knit were created. This technology helped the fabric to be less prone to damage.
Even the President wore Haggar pants. In 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson ordered six pairs of pants from the brand and received another pair as a gift. The president ordered a personal modification of the model in the crotch area.
Sportswear
In the 1970s, Haggar expanded into the sports market. The brand creates sports jackets and vests. It is possible to buy pants and jackets separately from sets. At first, they specialized exclusively in men’s clothing. The line of women’s clothing appeared in 1984.
The production was quite small. By 1987, the company employed 7,000 people at six plants located in the United States, the Dominican Republic and Mexico.
The Haggar brand has worked closely with athletes. Famous sports stars like Andy Matthews, Mickey Mantle, Robin Roberts, Arnold Palmer and Bobby Layne appeared in brand advertisements. From 1978, Haggar began creating the famous red jacket to reward athletes.
The company-millionaire

In 1992, the Haggar brand introduced 100% cotton wrinkle-free pants. As of 1998, the company has a net annual profit of $8 million. Items were sold for $402.5 million in total. In the same year, the company acquired the women’s dress brand Jerel.
An interesting invention of the company was increasing the moisture resistance of fabrics in 2002. By 2005, Haggar had an annual revenue of over $500 million.
Division

In 2005, part of the Haggar company was bought by Perseus, LLC, Pou Chen Group for $212 million. After this, the company’s sales fell because part of the income was the sale of women’s clothing and it was sold.
In 2016, Haggar acquired Tribal Sportswear and Kizan International in 2018. In 2019, the company had 1,700 employees worldwide, of which 400 were based in Dallas. In the same year, the Haggar company was recognized as No. 1 in the sale of light pants in the United States.
Haggar was bought by Randa Apparel in May 2019. As of 2023, Haggar clothing can be purchased in 10,000 stores worldwide and in online stores.
Lantern Entertainment Film Studio

Lantern Entertainment is an independent film studio created by Lantern Capital Partners following the purchase of The Weinstein Company’s assets in 2018. The founders were Andy Mitchell and Milos Brajovic. The headquarters is located in Dallas. The film studio is independent of the Weinsteins, although it owns all the assets of the company.

Lantern Entertainment owns the rights to Weinstein’s 277 films.
In November 2018, Lantern Entertainment received all the rights to Quentin Tarantino’s famous and box office films: Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight.
On March 13, 2019, the film studio, together with Gary Barber, relaunched Spyglass Media Group. The former film library of The Weinstein Company was located here. Most of the films were later sold to Lions Gate Entertainment Corporation.

7-Eleven

7-Eleven is a chain of multinational retail stores. The headquarters is located in Dallas. The company was founded in 1927 as a showcase for ice houses, which were previously used instead of refrigerators. John Jefferson Green sold ice and started selling eggs, bread and milk on one of the windows. He associated this marketing decision with the fact that people do not have to go far for the necessary goods.

From the day of its foundation until 1946, the company was called Totem Stores. This name was associated with totems, which often stood in front of the entrance to retail stores. The idea of the totems came to one of the store directors, who brought a totem from Alaska and installed it in front of the store. It was a peculiar feature.
Since 1946, the name of the stores has been changed to 7-Eleven in order to explain to visitors the opening hours of the stores: 7/11 (7 days a week from 7 AM to 11 PM). This phenomenon was unprecedented at that time in the USA.

In 1963, the company did an experiment. They did not close their store at night in the city of Austin. Then, this practice was introduced in other cities. The experiment was successful. In the same year, the company became available as a franchise.
Crash and recovery

In the 1980s and 1990s, the store chain went bankrupt due to the stock market crash. Many of the chain’s stores have closed in most of the country’s megacities.
Two Japanese companies Ito-Yokado and Seven-Eleven Japan helped the 7-Eleven network to recover. The company began to develop and was 31 in the Entrepreneur Franchise 500 rating in 2010.
In 2010, the first green store in the chain opened. It had eco products and environmentally friendly design. In the same year, the store launched its own smartphone application.
The expansion of the network has not stopped. In 2011, the chain marked the opening of 40,000 stores. In 2013, there were 60,000 stores.
In 2020, the company announced the purchase of Speedway (an American gas station chain) for $21 billion.
In 2021, the company launched an advertising campaign with the largest budget in the history of 7-Eleven. It was $70 million. The ad talked about the evolution of the company and emphasized that this is not just a gas station with a store but restaurant-quality food.
World market

The first 7-Eleven store opened in Hong Kong in 1981. As of 2012, there were already 964 stores, most of which operate through franchising.
From October 2021, the 7-Eleven store can be found in India, namely in Mumbai.
In 2021, the first 7-Eleven store in Taiwan was opened. Local goods in the store make up 50%.
In Singapore, the 7-Eleven chain is the largest chain on the island with 393 stores as of 2018.
In Taiwan, the first stores were opened in 1979. As of 2014, 5,000 stores were opened.
In the UAE, the first store was opened in 2015, as of 2018 there are 18 stores.
In Europe, 7-Eleven stores are open in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Great Britain.
As of 2023, 7-Eleven stores are present on every continent except Antarctica.
